If she is close to 6 inches she would be classified as an adult. There is no particular need to wet the coir for an adult. Just make sure she has access to water and soak her about once a week. Where did you wind up getting her??

At 6 inches your tortoise is classified as an adult, probably has reached sexual maturity, but is not fully grown. Females can grow up to 8-10 inches. Looking at your tort's shell, there definitely are still fresh growth rings, so she is still in a rapid growth stage.

As far as wetting the coir, I actually respectfully disagree with the person who said that it is no longer necessary. Dried out coir is very dusty, and can cause irritation to eyes and airways. RTs are desert animals, but in their burrows the humidity level is actually very high.

A 1:1 mix of coco coir and sand (by dry weight) will hold moisture well (ends up being a few cups of play sand per 1 brick of coir... then add water). You don't need to mist your tortoise, but having water available, and soaking 1-2x per week is a good idea.
