My Tortoise and Cuttlebone! HELP!!!

My Redfoot tortoise's diet comprises of a large variety of foods including kale, carrots, and other spring mix veggies.... I got him cuttlebone a 2 days ago and he started eating it like candy, for 2 days after that he won't even touch it... does that mean he has enough calcium?

They typically ignore them for months at a time and then all the sudden start eating them. Then repeat, so yes that is perfectly normal.
