my tortoise is suicidal!!!

i think my baby sulcata is suicidal. i have a big log for him to go into but lately hes been trying to climb it and the other day he succeeded and got on top. well when he tried getting down he landed on his back and was stuck. i fear for him because if i hadnt been home he wud have died right??? should i remove the log until he is bigger and if so what then should i get so he has somewhere to hide at night to sleep please help.

suicidal? umm there more like adventurous climbers? correct me if i'm wrong, anyone?

All my hatchling have done this. If the drop off from the log is too high, just add more substrate around the log to make it more flush or make it so it doesn't have a big drop and then you can avoid the flip over.

Very common... What I do is attach a piece of wood to one side and the other side I put up against a wall. This way it makes it impossible for them to climb up the log. Not suicidal just what they do.
