Here are the pics of my two tortoises, Wilson (who is actually female.. Just thought she was a male for about 5 years so I have officially changed her sex :) ) And Tully, who is currently living with my father in Guyana and about to be imported to Canada.

Wilson (redfoot) was my first tortoise, I think I put too much protein in his diet or fed him too much as a youngster so maybe that's why he has pyramiding?

Tully (yellowfoot) was rescued from hungry miners in the Guyanese jungle. Her home was destroyed by the mine so I brought her back to the city to prevent her from becoming "turtle curry". It would have been better to release her in a different area but Guyana is pretty dangerous so we can't really go off into the bush without an armed escort. Because of this I've decided she will have a better life here in Canada with me.
Anyway, here are the promised pics!

Lots of lovely pics.
Nice torts.
We now know, that contrary to old information, pyramiding is caused by a lack of humidity, rather than a high protein diet or calcium deficiency.
You can't reverse it, but can ensure smooth growth in the future by keeping them humid, providing access to water and soaking a couple of times a week.
(more often for babies). You'll find lots about this on TFO.

Ah OK thanks for the info that's good to know. He has a humid area now and I soak him in the tub weekly, I was pretty young and uninformed when I got him.
