I have a 4x3 tortoise table that is home to my three toed box turtle. She has been in this setup for about 3 months now, but as of the last 2-3 weeks I have been noticing nats all over. I typically don't leave any food in longer than a few hours. Just wondering if anyone had any tips on getting rid of them and or preventing them. Thanks!

They are most likely fungus gnats who are attracted to the substrate we use. You can use sticky traps to catch adult gnats and I find that keeping my substrate on the wetter side stops their reproduction. You can also buy spring tails on the internet and add them to the substrate to help control the gnats, I get mine from Josh's Frogs.

Alternatively look under rocks and fallen logs outside and find a few roly-polies to add to your enclosure.

The flies are completely harmless. They're inevitable in the warm damp environment your tortoise needs. Just make sure that food waste is removed after 24 hours and that poop is picked up promptly.
