Need Help, Found Turtle in My Busy Neighborhood in Silicon Valley

Looks like a desert tortoise. It was wondering in my somewhat busy neighborhood in Southwest San Jose, CA. No one in the neighborhood lost a pet turtle. I posted on Craigslist and Facebook but no one in my area came forward.

I would just leave it alone, but it was trying to cross my busy street.

Please help. Do I really let it roam the neighborhood? or can some rescue group come and get it. I've read that hibernation time is coming.
