Thank you! Im not sure exactly how old he is, I know he at least 2 years old. I bought him at Petco, and I've been wanting a tortoise for a while, but wasn't sure which type. The manager at the store said he was bought and returned and he's a bit shyer then he used to be. And yes this is my first tortoise!

Welcome to the world of tortoise keeping. There are several ways to do the same thing. Some dependent on your likes/needs, some your tortoise's likes/needs, some where you live, and such. Sorta try what sounds best to you and then tweak it from there.

There is a lot of old information based on the way we 'used' to do things or on misinderstood aspects of tortoise care. Even with that, little of the contradictory stuff is really bad.
