Hello. My yearling red foot tortoise has been very timid around my larger tort. After some research, I found out that they would be best separated. I want to design a new enclosure for her. I'm looking for some ideas. I want something that will look pretty nice (I don't want a rubber maid bin). I was thinking wood, but I wasn't sure how to make it water proof on the inside. If you have any ideas, please let me know :)

Hi, there. I come from China and here is the most popular method of indoor enclosure. Make a big wood box as big as you can, because big space take our torts big active space for health growth. And make a big glass trough that mostly as big as inside wood box size, the height about 10cm, then you can customize the substrate and won't worry about dirty the wood box, I recommend you use keep humid substrate. Set a few function lamps above and inside the box.
Others are your ideas.

You could also use a pond liner or shower curtain to line the wood box (although the glass trough sounds like the best idea I've heard yet!).
I think there's some paints that are water proof that can be used too.

Though with a young RF, well all RFs technically, you're gonna want to have high humidity. Especially to prevent pyramiding. So a closed chamber would probably help.
Search closed chamber on the forum and you'll get LOADS of utterly amazing ideas!!!

Thanks for the ideas! I most likely will make a wooden enclosure with glass inside.
