I have seen albino turtles before but never leucistic! Very cool. A friend of mine had a large leucistic Burmese python in the late 80's. It was very very expensive and it would never breed with anything. Bad investment!
It's not a albino and not a leucistic, it's a mystery. All I know now is that it rules. I have albino maps too, my first clutch will hatch in three weeks. Here's a pic of my original albino map as a baby. Thanks!
Oh wow, I didn't notice the eyes before. It may be hypomelanistic and xentheric mean that it is missing most of the brown/black pigment and has more yellow then normal. Sort of like some natural blondes in humans.
With baby turtles it's hard to tell, after awhile the color will start to come in and I will be able to tell. It was a farm animal so there nothing to compare it too. Thanks for looking!
Yeah, I almost only do aquatic turtles but do some tortoises and albino frogs too. Here's a pic of the Pied Mississippi Map, you can kind of see how I keep them. They are all kept outdoors year round and live in really large above ground ponds, depending on how many turtles are in each.
Wow very cool!! Do you breed to sale them? I talked a neighborhood kid into releasing a box turtle he found in the wild back where he got him from. I told him if he released it I would find him a turtle on here. These guys would be perfect for him. Plus I'm across the street to help him with anything he needs help with? So do you. Sell them.
