With the temps in the mid to high 90s here, we decided to get Vegas a kiddie pool and do away with the mud hole in the hope of keeping him clean longer. Well we go it all set up and within a minute he had it nice and dirty.. He loves it especially since it's so hot right now..

Cute pics ;) I can't believe you took away his mudhole though! ;)

It was taking up to two days to soak into the ground even with these high temps and when he pooped in it, it stayed on the bottom so we wouldn't see it until it dried up. They flies loved it, but the smell wasn't so great. The pool is a lot easier for us to clean and he seems to like it more.. I think on occassion we will dig him a mude hole just so he can get a little dirty and then fill it back in..

I know I said that..:D...Sometimes you have to rethink things and the mud hole was a good short term thing but it sure became a hassle trying to find the poop in all that dirt..

Bob is awesome and I can imagine that he plowed his way in and out of his pool from all directions, and I thought about your post when I got the pool so we dug the ground out to make the pool flush with the ground in hopes that it will last us a while..:D:p

Thank You.. The pool only cost $10 at walmart so if it gets messed up or if he out grows it, it's not a big deal..

Nice pics, Did he ever use the cutout to go in or out? We stopped at Dollar General on Wed and I was setting in the car waiting for my wife. They had some of those outside and they were calling to me so I went inside and paid for one.Now I have an extra one in case I need it. Len

He get's in where ever he wants to, but he has to use the cutout to exit the pool because the sides are a little to high for him to reach over or he just hasn't figured out how yet.

He is enjoying it more than I thought he would, he is in and out of it all day. Splashing around and everything..:p

Wow! He sure looks happy!

I think so too, since we got the pool he has stopped digging his burrow and spends more time in the pool..

Interesting. Seems like its the heat that drives them to dig. So since he can cool off in the pool, he doesn't feel the need to dig so much.

Tom I think you are right, when it started to warm up here he was working really hard on the burrow but since we got the pool he has stopped digging and only sleeps in there at night...

I wish Tex would spend more time in his. Maybe we just need to get him a bigger one and make it flush with the ground. Tex completely bulldozes his pool. We cut the side out and he'll walk in through the cut out but walk out OVER the wall and there goes the water.... Hmmm, sounds like a weekend project.

He was waiting for me to clean it this morning and as soon as it was full of fresh water he went right in and pooped, lol:D

making it flush with the ground removes the chance of him bulldozing the sides, he still does it to the cut out section when he goes in but it pops back out once he is in the pool...
