We picked up another puppy a few weeks ago, and I was finally able to get a decent picture of him. He's about 3 months old now, pure AKC bullmastiff (we absolutely love bullmastiffs). We have him pretty much housebroken in only about a week of really trying. So far he ignores the tortoises and chases cats, pigeons and people he doesn't know (exactly what we wanted). We named him "Moto."

Congratulations! I love the Bullmastiffs too. Moto as in Motocross? Here's a pic of my Cain:

No...it must be after Mr. Moto. If you're as old as dirt, like me, you'll remember Mr. Moto, the Japanese wrestler!

Awesome dogs! I'm a mastiff fan as well. My wife is NOT a fan of the slobber though :)

We just got a new puppy last night. An adorable Shiloh Shepherd. Think German Shepherd, but much bigger, calmer, and more of a children\family dog than a guard dog.

This is a pic of her mother at the same age:

Chad, most of them don't slobber. Some do. A lot. But others, like Cain and my Danes don't slobber any more than any other dog. My wife's friend used to have an English Mastiff that slobbered everywhere. Anyhow, didn't know if you already knew that or not.

Reminds me of that scene in Turner And Hooch (differnt kind of dog), where he shakes his head and long noodles of nasty slobber go everywhere :)

yeah, not all of them slobber - but no way to know which one will or won't when they are cute little puppies....

The dog work in that movie was done by my friends Dad. He was one of the greats. Now deceased. That dog was actually a team of dogs and they didn't slobber at all. Movie magic! I had one of the doubles named Rocky. He lived with me for a few years and then died of old age related problems.

Yeah, Moto as in motocross. I grew up riding and racing dirtbikes... Getting a little old for it nowadays (28), but I still do what I can. I have too much to lose in a bad crash with a family nowadays to be there for.

We have another dog that is 1/2 Bordeaux (like the Turner & Hooch dog) and 1/2 bullmastiff - she's around 130 pounds, not really huge, but big. Her head is about half of that weight. None of mine slobber at all. Their snoring is about the biggest complaint I can come up with; it vibrates the walls!

Cain looks great, as well as the Bordeaux (Rocky?). We will probably get a brindle bullmastiff at some point, I just wanted one more light color. I like the light coat and dark face contrast.

I like both colors too.

Too old for motocross at 28?! I STARTED at 28, almost ten years ago! Still ride my YZ 250F.

What a gorgeous puppy!! Soo cute! I like the contrast of the light coat and dark face too.
I had to laugh when you said that your 130-lb dog is "not really huge, but big" ;) but maybe that's because I have a chihuahua and a chi mix :p
I would LOVE to add a big dog to the mix when I finally get my own house!

TYLERSTEWART your puppy is adorable! Are mastiffs very bad puppies (I mean crazy chewers)? I have always been intrigued by these guys, but I don't have the space for one of those babies!!

TOM...wow Moto is HUGE...very beautiful! I bet he protects his family!:) :)

What a cute puppy ~ and he looks so serious! What a "focused" companion for your family! We have shepherds that we train for search and rescue and your puppy has that same look of "everything's fine now--'cuz I'm here" :)

Thanks for the cute photo~ JD

These are some impressive animals. Bull Mastiff have an awesome history; as do many workingdogs. I personally love workingline German Shepherds (DDR Lines and Czech Lines). Below I attached a video of a EXCELLENT representation of a German Shepherd (This is my friend's shepherd; Quanto Jipo me) Check him out!

Years ago when I was married my husband was 6'4" tall and 200 pounds of long haired badassed biker and we had a St Bernard named Roofus. Because when he barked he said "roof roof". But he would stand on his back feet and he could look my husband directly in the eyes and his slobber strands were as big as my wrists. He'd get ready to shake his head and somebody would holler "alert"!!! and Roofus would shake his head and slobber would just fly every where. It ruined my clothes and my furniture. We lived in a small Oregon town and both of us were arrested for things the dog did. That dog had more personality than any 10 people and we were continually in trouble because of Roofus. I don't much care for dogs anymore, but Roofus was one heck of a dog...a totally different time...

Our little Gitta (short for Brigitta Von Ehret) is a Czech german workingline shepherd that is almost two yo now (Her grandfather was a Czech border patrol dog). At one year she passed her CGC (canine good citizenship) and this past Oct. she certified for AKC tracking title. She has been in training as a SAR K9 and has already been on two searches for our sheriff's office (paired w/ her brother). She is almost fully trained now to work solo in SAR K9. She has an amazing nose and a drive that doesn't stop! 'Moto's' puppy pic reminds me of the enormous potential these working dogs have~ JD

Wow, I would love to see your shepherd work. I would like to pursue a careeer? or just be involved in the training of this breed. I live in southern california. Check out my friend website: cainidepolitie.com. He is a Top Breeder in workingline german shepherd next to Jinopo. Let me know what you think.
