I finally got around to building an out door pen for my red foot! It's 8ft x 8ft and about 1.5ft high. Unfortunationg i had to put i hinged chicken wire lid to keep 'unwanteds' out (My cats and a local fox o_O) So right now im kinda getting som plants together to put in there for him. I've got some marigold, petunias, a strawberry plant, a bell pepper plant and some parsley. And Ideas for some low lieing ground cover plats would be great! Ill try to get pics up soon. Thanks!

Creeping jenny comes to mind. Mine sort of eat it, but it hangs in there.
HENS AND CHICKS (Echeveria spp.), (Sempervivum tectorum)
Dwarf Nasturtium
Baby's Tears
Lamium

are a few that come to mind...

Hello Kyle, If you are in the Southern Maryland area you are welcome to cross the 301 Bridge and come to Colonial Beach Va, and I can give you plants for your enclosure. I have several low growing plants and some that can be cut back and still thrive.also have a spine-less cactus that will survive cold wet weather that I have been working on for a couple years that spreads out but does not get tall. A lot of extra plants that can be grown outside the covered pen to use as a food source. Len

Portulacaria afra (Elephant Bush - Portulacaceae), I got one of these at Home Depot in the Garden Section. My Cherryheads like to hide under it. I have seen them eating at it...but they didn't munch it down, so I am just assuming they were just seeing what was new in their enclosure. It is a succulant and can be contained by pruning it...

Do not confuse this with Elephant Ear plant...

I'm thinking that the pepper plant is in the same family as tomato and deadly nightshade. The leaves are toxic.
