Hey guys, if you don't no me I'm Shea and for my Bday my dad got me a ca desert tort. I'm so exited. Any one who can tell me what they eat and how to care for them would be a big help.

Too bad you didn't put your birthday up on your User CP page. The Birthday Fairy could have included you in her BD greetings. So now you just have to make due with a greeting from plain old me:
First of all, how big/old is your new desert tortoise? Babies eat differently from adults. If he's an adult, they do better being able to graze in the yard on grasses and weeds.

Juvenile And he's about 12 in. I know they will graze on grass weeds and lettuce but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything important. And thanks for the happy birthday thing.

I suggest using the search box at upper right to find lots of information by subject. There is so much information starting on "Tortoise Topics" too. If you are like me, you will be doing a lot of reading now that you have found this site. Welcome to the forum. I know you will find all the members very helpful in answering your individual questions too.

And I think I'm going to name him Abe, after a main character from a video game I played when I was young, or dig dug.
