I'm in St Petersburg Florida and new to the forum. My daughters and I have been observing Florida box turtles in our neighborhood for a little over a year now. We have 59 turtle sightings of 42 different turtles. They range from 6 to 623 grams. Four where found dead; three of natural causes, one motor vehicle fatality. 17 females. 14 males. 11 juveniles (<3 y/o).

Hi ufgator:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

I think its wonderful that you are teaching your daughters the catch and release system of box turtle hunting. What a great pastime for you.

I have two male Floridas that I hatched from eggs, and two yearlings that I bought from one of our members. I'm hoping they turn out female! I'd love to raise my own babies.

Glad to have you with us here on the forum.

What would you like us to call you?

Maybe this turns into an interesting school science project some day.
