I discovered something this year, that truly might have only to do with my construction skills. Last year I had trouble keeping my night box temps up. It would often be 72-76 in my night box in the early AM before work. Even with thermostat set to 82. This year I have pure cypress mulch on the floor maybe 3-4” deep. Stays consistently at 82. Just putting this out there for any novice builders like me that may not have gotten it exactly right to hold temps. I’m also noticing my Tort is more active this winter. She really only comes out for water and food walks a bit and goes back inside but last year she only came out every second or third day for food. Happy Winter!
I’m SoCal fwiw. It’s been 40s overnight and 60s during the day.
Her is my girl coming out to eat, it was 57f when I took this pic. Yes she looks alittle dusty and dry but she drinks daily and soaks weekly.
