Night temperature

Hi,

I've just changed from a red basking lamp to a white one as I'm told this is better for my baby Horsfield.

I was wondering what the best thing to do at night is? It gets pretty cold in my house, probably about 5 degrees Celsius, and I don't want him to get cold or hibernate but I also don't want him to think it's daytime by leaving the basking lamp on.

I've removed his heat pad after advice that they were bad for him. Could I use that at night only?

Any advice please?

You can use a Ceramic Heat Emitter (CHE), as it provides heat without light:

I use a CHE on a thermostat. It maintains the minimal temp in enclosures very well.

Why is your house only 5 degrees? Where do you live?
