my husband built a tort table out of compressed wood or something that has a coating like melamine. Didnt seal it right with cauking and it leaked. Resealed it and is planning to put plastic down( shower liner) will that work? Do i tape the sides down???

Forgot to mention, he built one years ago and used duct tape on seams, which held up but i didnt like how it looked, there's a ton of calking on the seams now, it will take ages to dry , so olive is in a tank meanwhile

I used construction trash bags as a liner, packed it with lots of cypress mulch, didnt need to tape the sides up or anything and havent had any problems with it.

I used shower pan liner (Home Depot, they sell by the foot). The stuff is very tough, even a Russian can't burrow through, lol.
I folded it up the sides, folded the corners and stapled it to the sides. I have seen others duct tape it to the sides. Just make sure it goes up far enough to stay well above the substrate.
