Why Not grow your Oun every pad is a plant

Our garden centres only sell opuntia as decorative plants so I wouldn't buy those in case of chemicals.

They aren't sold as foodstuff here in the UK so I order large pads from websites for reptile supplies. I give them a good wash and remove any spines.

When feeding I use a vegetable peeler across the pad for thin slices (l worry about feeding chunks since I read about the adult sulcata which died after choking on a chunk of carrot).
Opuntia has a laxative effect so I'll ration the amount too, but my tort loves it.

Don't you have any ethnic shopping centers in the area. My Local Grocery store sells Cactus Pad, But the ethnic stores sell cactus, Jack fruit, and a lot of other specialty Fruits & Veggies, Many I have never heard of...

Not in the UK unfortunately....at least none I've been able to find.

Not a ton of Latinos in the UK, so no Latin grocery stores! OP will have to get cactus another way if they have their heart set on it.

Buy a plant and grow it at home

OP knows best but I would look more closely at what's already around me than grow cactus in a cold climate for one little tortoise. They'll figure out the best path in time, whatever that is!
