What would make the best shelter for a small 2" tortoise? I've heard of using pots or dog houses.

If you look through the enclosures section, you will see that many people use a pot or a slab to hold up the roof of some sort of cave for their tort to use as a shelter.

Having a mound of earth on top helps to stop the cave getting too hot or too cold.

What I did was take a plastic storage bin, cut a hole in the side, submerge the tub into the ground, and basically, create an artificial burrow/den.

Here's some other views of my outdoor pen. I just used bricks and slate tiles (basically what I had lying around) to create a shelter on one end.
