Happy 4th everyone!

My vet (nota a reptile specialist) gave me panacure as a precaution sense the stool sample came up negative for worms and parasites but appeared to have small round things that looked like eggs in his stool. I gave the first dosage two days ago. On romaine sense I can't get him to open his mouth. My question is should I give it to him for 5 consecutive days? I think its 10ml. Ill have to check when I get home. Very small amount in each syringe. I just don't want to over do it and kill my little tort. Only 32g so quite fragile.

Usually when de-worming, you administer one dose today, then another dose in 10 days to kill what hatched out since the first dose.

Maybe he has given you a small dosage to be on the safe side. If you're unsure, you need to contact a reptile vet for a second opinion.

Panacur is often dosed differently than other wormers.

You need the advice of an experienced tortoise vet here. If someone on a public internet forum tells you the wrong thing, it could kill your tortoise. Personally I would not be worming a tiny baby like that, and I certainly would not be worming without a sure diagnosis of exactly what I am dealing with.

I would take a stool sample to an experienced tortoise vet and get confirmation of whether you even have a parasitic worm.

Oh man, my vet had me giving panacur daily for 3 days. All of my tortoises handled it fine, except my baby, it made him sick and halted his growth. :(

The vet said they do take reptiles but certainly aren't a specialist to my knowledge. The dosage is small but my tort is small. Its like 1 or 2 drops max from an eye dropper as a reference. I'll defenitely not give him another dosage until I can talk to a specialist. Last thing I want is to kill my tort giving him meds. :/ One dosage is in his system currently.

1-2 drops max isn't really a clear dosage when you factor in the dilution ratio. It's a crapshoot at this point and with you in Florida, I'm sure a tortoise friendly/experienced vet can be found. Somewhere here on the forum is a listing of just that broken up into states. I'm not sure where it is but likely in the “health" or “promotion" section. Ideally someone will jump in with the location for you.

If you're nearby, Contact Broward Avian And Exotic vet. 10th Street and Hillsborough.
The lady vet there has saved the life of one of my tortoises and owns a tortoise!
For the record, most fecal tests have some level of parasite eggs.
Treating is not always needed.
Also, not every thing that LOOKS like an egg is an egg. I wouldn't treat with poison on a guess.

Thatnks guys. I only gave the first dose and will bring a different sample to a more specialized vet. Ill look up the one on Hillsborough. My tort is doing fine for now. Still no real growth but im kind of accepting that he's stunted and it may be a long time before anything happens. Making a kiddie pool outdoor enclosure in a few days for him to be in for an hour or 2 on days I have the time. It'll have the testudo mix growing in there.
