panic on gender

im really concerned at the minute because when i bought my tort in the shop he said that it was a girl....someone i no went to a different shop to enquire about her tort and the man said if the tortoise is rounded its a boy..... my taloula (tort) is rounded

my tort is a horsfield tortoise any help or ideas on how to tell the gender of my tort....

If you post a plastron (bottom of shell) and a tail picture, we can give a go at sexing your Horsfields tortoise for you. :)

Take some pictures of her tummy, focus on her tail. That should help.

Have you measured her? Here's how. http://www.tlady.clara.net/measure.htm A correct measurement will also help. Sometimes they are too little to tell.

The boys have long tails with a little spur on the end and the girls have stubbier tails without the little "tail nail"

your first pic did fine.. try another, but of the underside. males hold thier tails to the side. but how old is yours?
