I’ve had her for 6 years but she was sadly from a chain pet store because we didn’t know. I’m not talking about the light looking section i’m talking abt the one to the left of it.It looks like the scute peeled off to reveal new growth. This has been originally caused by some kind of injury, that has now healed.
How long have you had the tortoise?
I am not 100% what you mean, any chance you could circle it?I’ve had her for 6 years but she was sadly from a chain pet store because we didn’t know. I’m not talking about the light looking section i’m talking abt the one to the left of it.

yes from what i remember it was. the flaking off part is what i’m talking about, i will reply to the other person with a picture in a few minsWas the light section like that when you got her?
The section you're talking about, it's flaking off?

I agree with Yvonne on this.
thanks for the help! The scute next to the one that has already peeled off is suffering from the same malady that caused the other one to peel off, only not as bad. We'll never know but my best guess is he was too close to a heat source that was mounted on a wall he was next to and the new growth and blood vessels were burned causing tbem to die. But, not to worry. It regenerates over time. . . a long, long time.
