Plant ID help Plz (CA)

These can both be found growing in my lawn among dandelion and clovers. My phone has attempted to ID but I don’t particularly trust either…

Thoughts?
Two images are of the same plant provided for a close up of leave as well as growth pattern.

First one looks like violet to me, safe.

I am getting “heal all” for the second, which does grow where you are. In the mint family so safe but perhaps not appetizing, due to strong scent.

hmm, yes, heal all is what i saw too… but i’ve never seen flowers and it’s always grown low, like a grown cover and google images show a different growth. maybe i’ll taste one myself and see if i can narrow it down that way. my phone called the other leaf a pennywort.

Did you get more rain this year than last, maybe? Or it’s growing in a shadier spot?

it’s definitely in a pretty shady spot. i didn’t consider the effect that would have. not sure about rain since i just moved here last spring. thanks for sharing your thoughts.
