hey all!
I bought a Hermanns tortoise on Sunday and his enclosure is quite bare I saw that some people have plants in theirs? Any advice? Also in the pet store they had cactuses in their vivariums and I dunno if that’s for decoration or for the tortoise to eat-ouch.
Thanks in advance

Hi Seanna, and welcome to the Forum!

We've recently talked a lot about plants for tortoise enclosures. Try using our 'search' feature and see if you can find the threads that way.

Just be careful that you don’t buy something from a garden centre that is chalk full of fertilizers and/or pesticides. Not good for your tort.

While you search - start growing some Pothos and Spider Plants. They easily start fresh from cuttings (maybe from a friend) and then you can replant in clean soil. Both are good and safe.

Lastly , heres a good source to check on good safe plants - https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/plant-database/viewplants/?plant=385&c=5#.XDi3U_9OmhA

Good luck happy Friday in Belfast
