Hey guys, I don't look at Dante's plastron often...so when I decided to flip him over today to check him out, just because, I became worried! I don't think I have any pics of his plastron before, but those lines didn't look split like that at all when we got him last year.

I thought I've been doing a pretty good job keeping him happy and healthy lately, but I must be doing something wrong.:( Is he too dry? Is it rot? Would love some advise so I can fix whatever this is!

He is 10 years old, and I had assumed he was full grown! Is it really just him growing? I would feel really silly (but relieved)! I thought he was at his full size already!

It's possible that this is something else, but I think it's just growth in a spot that hasn't grown recently. Is there any sign of growth on the carapace?

Not that I've noticed, which is why I automatically assumed it must be something terrifying and bad!

Any second opinions? Is it just that my adult tort is having a growth spurt, or something else? ...Just suffering for a mild case of tortoise paranoia :)

OK thanks! I got Dante as an adult, so I've never seen him grow!

Good call sharing. I would have been worried too, glad to know that it's just good care causing more growth!
This thread will probably be helpful to others cause those are great pics you took of the plastron
