Now that hurricane Milton has passed, I had enough time to show you guys Figs upgraded enclosure. I recently shared pics and was told he needed at least 80% humidity and an open top wouldn't suffice. So straight to Amazon I went and got this greenhouse cover! I think it came out great! I just need to know if what I am currently doing is correct or if I need to change it.
I pour water in the bottom substrate (coconut fiber) and have orchid bark on top. Also I will spray the fake plants occasionally...should that keep the humidity where it should be? I have hygrometer/temperature things in every corner and most of the enclosure is 85% humidity, the basking spot is the hardest area to keep the humidity where it should be.
I have the LED light on the same timer with the basking light (basking area is 95°) - 12 hours a day from 8:45am to 8:45pm. For the UV...I bought the Arcadia 12% HO light and I bought a UV Meter (ouch- those are expensive 😳) which is saying the UV output is between 3-4 directly under the strip. How many hours a day should I have that on? Currently it's on a timer from 1-4pm. He does have his "house" section that doesn't have any light going to it so he can get into the darkness if he wants and the substrate is about 8 inches thick in there so he can dig down if he wants.
I wanted to say thank you for all the help, we are learning as we go!

Everything sounds perfect. Lighting, hours for lights, humidity, all sounds right on.
You shouldn't have to spray the plants but won't hurt anything if you do. If humidity isn't high enough when you don't spray them, then dampen the bottom substrate some more.
Great job and it looks great.

Looks great! You’ve done a wonderful job! So long as the lower layers of substrate are nice and damp(lukewarm water pours every 7-10 days usually does the trick) your humidity should stay where it needs to be with the new top😊

Thank you! That was my next question with how often should I try to rehydrate the substrate. I've noticed that it stays pretty damp everywhere but where the basking lamp is at. I guess not too terrible, I'll just check that area more often and rehydrate as needed 😀

Yeah only you can really tell if it needs to have more water. I would check it at least in 3 days and then go from there. Each enclosure is different.

Everything looks really good. You can leave UVB lamp timing at 4 hours per day, just make sure tortoise come out for basking during this interval. Also, you may adjust UVB lamp and basking lamp positions so heat and UVB exposure areas overlap as much as possible. When adjusting fixtures, check if UV index under the basking lamp is 3-4 - sometimes basking lamp dome shadows UV from the UVB lamp. If this happens - you may tilt basking lamp dome a little bit (5-10 degrees).

Yeah just check to do as and when needed, it’s natural for the basking spot to dry out quicker and have lower humidity in that area, but you’ve created a really good gradient! Great job!😁
