Hello everyone!
My tortoise - Spears, is having surgery tommarow to remove a tumor on her throat (that isn't connected to her mouth)
...and I'm...worried!!
The vet said the procedure will go like this:
● He'll give her a painkiller/anesthesia (I guess? He said it make her "loopy")
● Wait for them to work
● Cut out the tumor
● Give her 1-2 stiches
● Let her wake up ("come back to it"), on a heat pad under a heat lamp
Any suggestions for after surgery care?
Obviously keep the wound clean, good temps etc. But anything else?
We have a 2h drive ahead of us after she wakes up..I was thinking of maybe buying hand warmers to warm her while we drive?
Anything I can do to make her comfortable after the surgery while she recovers? How risky is it?
Ive been soaking her for a few days straight to keep her hidrated..and I wont feed her the day before (even if the vet said its ok)
