Back when I used grocery store stuff more, I would just run through it all. Endive, escarole, bok choy, swiss and red chard, green and red leaf lettuce, butter lettuce, parsley, Italian parsley, cilantro, romaine, celery, carrot tops, mustard greens, turnip greens, collard greens, watercress, dandelions, etc... I know there is more, but it escapes me now.

here is a good link, with a list of common tortoise dietary needs.

http://www.anapsid.org/tortdiet.html

From that link,
15% Vegetables...
...
Rice (cooked, plain)

I don't pretend to be an expert on much but as far as I know, rice isn't a vegetable. Semantics aside, I've never been to Africa but I've never seen rice growing in the Arizona desert.

Is it safe to feed them produce that's not labled organic? I'm always paranoid it was grown with too much fertilizer or with pesticides.

Kale is fine as long as its part of the diet and not all of it. The greater the variety the better.

Wheeeeeeew...I got really worried cause I read on here that kale prohibited the adsorption of calcium and she gets it almost daily along with spring mix and mustard....she'll get right to the Kale first. I also give her a softened block of Muzuri mixed in a couple times a week
