Hey guys I posted this awhile ago, but Im still on the hunt for a pug puppy.

I have looked at a lot of shelters but unfortunately only found one that had an older pug. I would rather adopt, however I am looking for a puppy, so she can grow up and I can have her for a lifetime.

Of course there are places like Petland, but I am not too sure about using them. I found a baby girl there and she was just the sweetest but when I asked where they got her they replied "one of our breeders". I then asked who and they said "i dont know"... So if anyone knows of anything in south Texas please let me know!

Never, ever, buy a puppy from a pet store. The colored water isn't vitamins. They are from horrible puppy mills, no matter what they tell you. A good caring breeder would never, ever sell to a pet store. You will spend lots of money for a sick puppy and/or one with other problems too. Contact the nearest Pug rescue for your area. Keep eye out on craigslist. Let your vet know you are looking for one, put an ad on craigslist that you are looking for one. Be patient, you will find one without having to support puppy mills and Pet stores that sell those puppy mill dogs.

There is a pug rescue here but they do not have any younger pugs. I dont know whether or not I should use craigslist though.

Pug Rescue without a doubt. Please do not buy a pug - as there is no shortage of homeless pugs hoping for a loving family. Even if you rescue a youngish one (under 5 years) you will still have at least 10 years with the dog, and you'll be saving that dog and the dog you make room for in rescue when that one finds a home. If pug rescue does not have a youngish one you are interested in, get on a waiting list and be patient. And continue to check shelters and pounds. It's a very popular breed with many in rescue and shelters.

Why don't you want to use craigs list? Just make sure you can see the dog at the place it is housed. Also, don't send money, go see the dog, if you like it, pay and bring it home. A lot of dogs on craigs list is there because people are losing their jobs and the animals are usually the first to go.

Also check the Pug breed club in your area. They usually have rescues of their own or a member that rescues. You may also find some breeders you could get one from if you want to take that route.

We have had a bad experience before using craigslist and are still a little wary. We tried to adopt a two year old pug and we asked the lady to meet us. When we met the pug had major health problems, we asked if we could have her vet call us and tell us her health status or have our vet check her out. The lady totally freaked out, she refused to have her vet call us or go with us to our vet. Im sure it is a freak thing but were still a little wary.
