I know nothing about stars but I do know that basically south Florida is about as good as it gets for raising almost every kind of tortoise!

Well south Florida is pretty humid for Indian stars. Indians can be a little delicate with humidity and too much of it for that matter. True Sri Lanken stars can handle more of your environment better. Since Sri Lanka is more tropic than the more sub tropic dryer Indian stars natural environment. Females tend to start laying around 1300-1800 grams. I've had as many 6 clutches from one female. Some were 3 egg clutches some were only 2.

I have never had problems in Fl with Indians. As long as they are raised from babies(NOT "CB" European) which are wild caught, they should do fine. No disrespect to any other posts. I personally have raised and bred Indians for many years. Now I am breeding Platynota(Burmese Stars). Never had a sniffle. What part of S FL are you from?

Very good point. That does seem to play a large role in the animals thrive. Wild caught are very finicky anyways. Good points thanks for adding.

Stars have no problem in Florida. Mine get rained on the majority of the week now that we are in the rainy season, and there are no issues what so ever...

Same thing goes with Leopards. Try introducing an import, not that you can anymore... Pretty much a death wish. I remember when I was buying PB and PP from Strictly for like $65 each for adults. Only thing was, you couldn't keep them alive! On the other hand, I have raised hatchlings to adulthood and they thrive. I do however pay very close attention to the weather when it is wet and "cold". Yes it does get cold here sometimes, but then again, 65 is cold for us down here. lol
