Question-substrate related

Does loose substrate release humidity better than compact? I ask because it seems like I have excellent humidity without effort when I churn and clean the enclosure but have to put more effort into keeping the humidity up with the peat/ground coconut coir is compacted.

I never noticed a difference, but it seems like the increased surface area of the loose coir would allow for more evaporation. So while you might see an initial increase in humidity, it will also dry out quicker in theory.
