Okay so I am figuring out slowly that Guptas cage that I spent lots of money and time building isn't working so great because its just too short. So before spring semester starts I have to fix it and build a whole other enclosure for my Ibera Greeks because they will soon out grow the one they are in now.
The main thing i am trying to figure out though is how tall I need the cage to be minium.
So here are some questions
1. How tall is a 100 watt powersun MVB bulb in inches?

2. How high off the substrate must a 100 watt powersun MVB be to make a basking spot of 100 deegrees? In inches(This is not including the length of the bulb itself)
From the tip of the bulb to substrate.

I will be adding the length of the bulb to the distance need plus 4 more inches for substrate. Thanks a ton you guys. This will help me get it right this time

Exciting fact about the new enclosure is it will be 32.4square feet!! Thats big right?
There will be two 32.4 square feet enclosure , one top of the other. closed chamber enclosures with doors on the front.

I would go with the height that the manufacturer suggests to be safe, as I don't own one I am unsure..

You are ambitious!
1.My PowerSun 100w is 5 1/4" tall.
2.Depends on what you have under the bulb as far as temps (piece of slate vs just substrate), but I would think about 12 to 14" away would give you close to 100F. The preferred range is 12 to 18".
Sounds like a height of 2 feet should be fine and give you wiggle room for the bulb height.
