Just some random pictures of Ralph from today. Each day I look at him he seems to get more beautiful.

Thanks for showing us the pictures of Ralph. Your camera is amazing although when I was showing my 22 year old the close up shot of Ralphs face he said he might be a little afraid to get in front of Ralph like that. That made me wonder are they really friendly at this age or can they be aggressive? Candy

Thanks for the comments!

He is 4 1/2 yrs old. His birthday is in October.

I laughed at the Turtle Wax too! hehehe

On the aggession, I guess they could be. Any animal could be. We've had him since he was a 2 month hatchling. He was pretty much basking when I took the pics. He has never really been aggressive, never rammed, never bit. He does come running when he sees me come out in the morning. He wants out of his enclosure.

Today, he was circling the raised flower garden. He knows it's there.

I do have a question, though. See the close up of his face? The peeling just below his nose? Is that normal?

I think that's perfectly normal. The beak is continually growing, and that part is on the upper beak. This is a great picture for anyone who is curious to know where a tortoise's ear is. See that dark, round indentation below and to the left of the eye, just before the fold of skin? That's the tympanic membrane, or the ear. Your camera takes great close-ups. Mine get blurry if I get too close.

He is a beautiful tortoise. You have done a very good job with him, he has no pyramiding or flares to his carapace. But he has that funny bumpy nose that looks like it was pushed up, not all Sulcata have that nose...Bob does...
