Has anyone used TWO popsicle sticks on top of each other for better ramp grip?

I placed Popsicle sticks already but Gong is still slides down when he's walking down.. he's fine walking up the ramp. Did the stain made it slippery? Is it the substrate?

Anyway, I'm thinking of making the ramp "rung" or grip thicker by adding another popsicle stick on top of every other existing stick. Will this pose a hazard on scraping his bottom?

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Photos below. Excuse the slanted popsicle sticks, I underestimated when I built the ramp.

The ramp should be fine with double popsicle sticks. The wood is not abrasive. It should not cause any damage whatsoever to the tortoise's shell.
