I attempted candling a few batches of eggs back when I had a breeding RF colony.
I was not usually able to tell fertile from not. Some chalked. Some got dark. Some hatched and others popped in a stinking mess.
My hatch rate was the the same in my incubator and my small 20 gallon aquarium closed chamber enclosure. About 30%.
