So, my 4 year old hermann tortoise has pooped out a big red ballon like thing and he quickly put it back inside. Does anyone know what is this? It looked kinda like a mini tomato.
Thanks in advance

It's mist likely HIS penis.
Google tortoise genitals and compare what you seen to the pic.

Has it all gone back? Rubbing sugar on the area help it retract. I suspect it flashed you. Do you dial regularly? Hydration, diet, heat, light are vital for health and longevity.

Thanks, but I searched up how does a genital look like but it looked really redish. I don't really know because this was the first time this happened.
Give some nice warm baths and he'll almost certainly flash you again. Sometimes when they're first figuring it out they only show a bit (which can look round) and it takes a few tries for them to fully unleash the beast 😳

Or, if it's not genitals, a warm bath will still help and you may be able to get a photo of the 'red balloon' in question. Share the pic and folks can confirm whether you're dealing with genitals or something serious that needs urgent care.

Well, I already bathed him and nothing happened. And also, it retracted really quickly in like 1 minute.

There are only two possibilities:
1. Penis.
2. Prolapse. There can be a prolapse if they are constipated of if they have a bladder stone.

The safe bet for either scenario is to soak and ensure good hydration. I would soak every day for at least a cookie of weeks and then cut it back to 2 or 3 times a week after that. If it is a male and starting to "flash", the extra hydration will do no harm. If it is the other scenario, the hydration could literally be a life saver.

A cookie of weeks... What the heck does that mean spell check???

It was supposed to say "a couple of weeks"...

Now I'm hungry and I want a cookie.
