Redfoot growth rates

Hi friends! So my Reds are a little over a year and they're growing rather fast. I'm wondering if I'm overfeeding? They're 14 months old and 6.4" long.

Up until recently I was feeding them every day. But I've read it's ok to cut out one day a week when they get over a year? Well I've tried a couple times to eliminate one day and they tear up their enclosure. Any decorative yet edible plant s don't stand a chance!

I follow the caresheets here on the forum as well as The Tortoise Library.

Also any guess on sex or still too young?

I really wouldn't worry about the size as long as they continue with the positive growth. And so far, your little ones look excellent

I also tried skipping meals. Like you said, if they don't get food, they'll find it themselves. Those were the days that I'd find the lower half of the begonias gone or the outer ring of the Christmas cactus gone or another poor pothos vine destroyed. To me, there's no point to skipping meals. I dump greens in daily and they choose to eat it or not. However, if I don't have time to feed them (it happens) then I also don't feel bad.

I can't help you with genders. I couldn't be 100% sure until I get flashed or they drop eggs.

Again, great job and keep the updates going! Looks like you'll have some giant redfoot, too

Thanks! It's almost time to take the cover off of my table. It's an exciting and maybe disturbing time for my torts. I've already started making cuttings of the enclosure plants and stocked up on new plants to try. I can't wait to redecorate! You better post pics of your upgrade.. I love seeing indoor gardens (and redfoots)

i don't think it's a bad thing they're growing fast just proof of proper care

From what I now know. I would guess that you have a female and a male.
Your 14 month old is larger than my very healthy 20 month old. You're doing something right!
