Hi,

I've a leopard tort and just got two new redfoot hatchlings. They're eating fine, active, pooing while being soaked and seem generally ok except for a small abnormality with one of their shells.

The weird thing is one of them is sleeping sideways so front and back foot on the ground the other two up against the wall. I was worried about organs slipping or some problem so I moved him into the hide as he was asleep. He then moved back out to the same position......Little menace. He has done this a few times now. Anyone any advice? Is this behaviour possibly dangerous to this wee ones health? Should I just ignore it?

Thanks,

Rachel

Enclosure is vivarium 4ft by 2ft. Leopard is kept separate they have met on the floor before but don't share enclosure. They're only very small so I think this vivarium is ok atm to keep the humidity up as well.

The other wee redfoot doesn't do it. It is strange. My leopard never did anything like that as a hatching. I'm just worried it might effect his health.

One could just be trying to wedge himself into a place that he feels secure.
Do you have some sideways flowerpots or hide boxes provided?
Small tortoises hide a lot. Small Redfoot hide and sleep a lot.
Make sure you provide sight barriers and hiding spots.
