Hi Everyone,
I wonder if you could help me. I fostered a female Herman’s for a summer 5 years ago but then the woman who owned her sent me a msg saying she no longer wanted her then moved away.
I already had my 24 yr old male tortoise and had to divide his outdoor space in half to accommodate her but he really needs his space back plus I cannot afford 2 lots of vets bills . As it was temporary I didn’t mind because her owner kept her in a 3 foot viv with less than a metre square of outside space and was never hibernated, ( owner said Shelby wouldn’t) she just turned off the uv light . I have however hibernated her without any problems since I’ve had her .
There is a lot of friction/frustration between the 2 and Shelby actually managed to climb over the 12” divide while I was out and gave poor Giz a proper hiding .
I contacted the tortoise rehoming centre in June but have not received a reply . Several people have said they wanted her but their knowledge of tortoise care has always been minimal to non existent and not an option
. As it is close to ‘winding down and hibernating season I would like to find somewhere over the winter months ready for when she wakes up again March time .
Please can anyone help .
I live in Norfolk , thank you in advance .
