Hi all,
Just a quick question. Curious if anyone has experiencing using the reptizoo 4x2x2 enclosures and if they hold humidity well (as they are advertised). Also curious if people have strong opinions about melamine enclosures, thank you!

The reptizoo enclosure has a screen top, so its a no go for tortoises. Its too small for anything but a hatchling and you don't want an open top and dry conditions for any hatchling.

Melamine will disintegrate when it comes into contact with moisture, so that is a no go too.

Use sheets of expanded PVC if you are building your own:

Or buy a Smart Enclosure from @Markw84

Or order an enclosure form Animal Plastics and wait months for it to arrive.

Thank you for the response! For melamine is this the case for enclosures that are designed for reptiles as well? I would assume those are better equipped to resist the negative effects of moisture but this is pure conjecture.

Yes. Melamine can work for species in dry conditions like bearded dragons, northern blue tongue skins or some snakes, but all tortoise species need damp substrate and the particle board inside the melamine will get wet and swell up and disintegrate.

Thank you for the wisdom!
