Hi ,i am new to the forum and i have been reading a book all about the care of Leopards and Sulcatas ,it says in the book when making an outdoor enclosure for Leopards to have an area of bare dirt for rolling ,please can some one tell me what rolling is please ,thank you xx

Most likely the book is old, out dated and filled with mostly bad info. Please read Toms threads below in my post for proper sulcata and leopard care.

I think rather than "rolling" the book meant sunning. It's always a good idea when building an outdoor habitat to have an area of bare dirt so the tortoise can sit on the dirt to warm up. Sitting on grass doesn't really allow them to warm up that quickly.

Yvonne has given you good information.....the tortoise here (cdt and Redfoot) love to kinda fluff in the bare dirt areas when they are sunning....so a good idea to give them that option...also, not all books are outdated. Just be certain to gain all information from as many sources as possible and apply what works for you in your geographic location....have fun with the build and set up..
