Russian tortoise dehydrated?

hi! I’m new to the forum I have had my Russian tortoise chip for 2 days. I soaked him in water yesterday and today bcuz I’m thinking he’s dehydrated. I will post a pic of the poops that he’s had... one is like white all white and then followed a brown. Let me know if this cause for concern

Yes, your tort is dehydrated. The white stuff is called urates.

It is recommended to soak your tort everyday for about an hour till they go away. [emoji173]and Remember to keep the water warm. [emoji173]

Thank you for your help lilly his poops are solid brown now :) and I’ve been soaking as u told me...should I still be soaking an hr everyday?

I would soak for at least 30min everyday till you no longer see the urates then you can soak 3-4 times a week.

As a general rule, Russian tortoises aren't that fond of water. If I thought my Russian were dehydrated, I'd spritz water over his food daily to help him get more water into him.

I soak any new tortoise daily for at least a couple of weeks to ensure good hydration. After that 2 or 3 times a week is plenty for an adult of any species, but it does no harm to soak more than needed.
