Hi again! I just switched out my tortoises substrate and he seems more active and happy. Right now its 50/50 of Repti Bark and Coconut Coir. Is this a good combination? I switched it for better humidity and his other stuff was getting old. I read that coconut coir can make their legs weak so that's why I added the repti bark. Also for a humid hide can I use sphagnum moss or will they eat it? Just want opinions. Thank you! 20181208_175926.jpeg20181130_195851.jpeg

That substrate looks great! And I love the photo of you two!
I have heard that some torts eat the moss but my Russian lives outside in summer where plenty of moss grows and doesn't eat it so I felt ok about putting a moss covered rock in his indoor winter enclosure. So in my opinion you'd have to get to know his behavior around the moss before it would be safe.
