I might get a Russian tortoise could you give me advice in what they need I have all ready researched some about them but I want to give him the best care. Also can I house him whit my 9 month old sulcata

I would search this forum by typing in russian tortoise care...also, NO...I absolutely would not house your russian and sulcata in the same enclosure nor would I allow them to share the same outside enclosure....

Are you looking to get an older russian or a baby russian? And no you cant keep a russian and sulcata together.

As for your question, most tortoise keepers advise against mixing species. This is not only a precaution against hybridization, but also a precaution against disease contagion. Different tortoise species are different enough to harbor different pathogens and parasites, but similar enough to be vulnerable to those from other species. Housing a sulcata and steppe tortoise together, for example, could result in their swapping diseases with each other, and both getting sick from one another's germs. :(
