Just under 30
And I could try would that be better for the tortoise? I was going to but I did not think it would work because it would be to high? It's only 15watt and 10% ?
Maybe you could try some flattish rocks and/or slate? Do you live near a beach to look for some to erm borrow ? Might keep her amused climbing a little and would be good for nails.
The thing my two love most is the trays of 'grow your own salad' you can usually get at sainsburys, tesco and some co-ops they're about £1 and live for about a week. Mine have fun climbing through it, hiding in it, going round it and of course eating it and the best part is you can just dig a hole and lay the tray in adds foliage for them as we'll as food.
You've done good in such a short time, and once you get to know your gal you will be forever fussing with her enclosure changing the decor. I actually realised this morning when picking poop out of Harley's enclosure I actually say "house keeeeping" when I do it!! *shameful* lol I've lost it!
Thank you and no there is no beach in Sheffield lol
And I will go to tesco tomoz and get some of that am sure I can find some rocks some were and borrow them haha!! Is there any thin els you can't see that I need?
Thanksn
If you don't mind could you show me a pic of your enclosure please
You said you have a hide for him, maybe you could put another in such as a flower pot too and have one in warm area and one in cool?
I think I see a water dish in the dark corner but if not access to shallow water is important.
Think you have the basics covered the rest is just keeping it interesting for her. Sometimes I make little hills and dips in the dirt for mine to explore in and over.
Are you managing to keep the heat in? I tend to cover enclosure with an old blanket at night when heat lamp goes off to keep cosy but my flat is pretty cold.
And yes good idea will she be okay if I cover it at night? Dose it need a few holes in for air?
My house is pretty warm and it's in the bedroom were the boiler is so it's never cold in there
I just have a fleecy throw that I put over leaving a little corner raised to let air circulate but keep draughts out, if you have a warm house you probably won't need it but no harm if you have something old to hand.
Your lights look fine, as long as your temps are ok and your tort is active, then no need to change that. (If you find you need more light, you could add a regular house bulb across from the tube light to brighten up the enclosure more.)
If you get the flower pots for hides (great idea) be sure to submerge them 1/2way or more into the soil so they can burrow. Just leave enough above the soil so he can get in!
