Bulb plants are not recommended in general and agapanthus as toxic properties for mammals.

You can find plenty of sages (salvia) which are safe. I would suggest heading to Tree of Life Nursery; it is not far from you. They specialize in native plants for our area and can actually tell you what will work with the sun and water you already have in your yard.

Since they maintain all their own stock, they can also tell you what, if any, pesticides they use. I’m pretty sure there are none whatsoever, given that they promote natural garden environments but always best to ask. (It is not recommended your tortoises have access to plants that have been given pesticides for at least six months.)

But don’t go today. They are closed on Sunday. :)

We have a commercial nursery professional here, and he's stated that plants treated with systemic pesticides can remain toxic for up to 12 months.

Just wanted you and everyone else to know this.
