I have a project about spur tighed tortoises' subspecies in Greece and Anatolia for a research. I will GPS track greek tortoises. do GPS device bother tortoises?
Or these torts are burrowing ground and burrowing process cause GPS damage or fall of its shell. What to do?

i guess it depends upon how the device is attached. A study was done on the Mojave desert tortoises a while back and they used tracking devices. I imagine you should be able to find it on Google. Might be helpful.

One thing this study did that I totally disagree with is they gathered up tortoises, made sure they were healthy, then after the tortoises had been captured for a time they took them out and released them, not taking any care to release them BACK INTO THEIR OWN TERRITORY.

Agreed. If it's going to be a true study, the animals just need to be tagged and left where they are. Not taken out of their habitat, and certainly not moved to entirely different locations.
