Scutes flaring???

Hi everyone. I was only able to get this one picture so I hope it works. But one of my tortoises scutes at the edge look like they are flaring outwards and didn't know if that's normal? Or what could it mean? He or she is a Desert Tortoise.

That's ok. Some tortoises do this more obvious than others, and it's not a problem - nothing's wrong.
