I'm the mom to a Russian Tortoise hatchling and it is my first reptile. I have done quite a bit of research regarding the habitat and diet of keeping an RT in an indoor enclosure however, tonight my daughter asked if she could put some seashells from the ocean in our RT's enclosure to "make it pretty." I can't seem to find any literature to support a yes or no answer so any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I wouldn't unless they are too big for him to swallow or bite a piece off. Tortoises are attracted to white things, along with red, orange, and possibly other bright colors. A hatchling could cut his mouth if he bites it and breaks it or could swallow it if it's too small.
