I got mine 3 years ago from Vicki at the Tortoise Yard. I recommend her completely. Excellent communication and very healthy animals.

Tortoises should never live as pairs
If u get two u should use two separate enclosure if u keep them together one will suffer

I've had first hand experience with and have become friends with Ryan at
    SOUTHERN REPTILES
Read about why NOT to get a pair before you do so.

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the cautions about getting pairs. Looks like Vicky at Tortoise Yard is no longer selling. Her website refers buyers to "Mark Thompson" and provides an email for him. I'm still awaiting a reply from him. Ryan at Southern Reptiles is quickly responsive but currently sold out of Cherry Heads. TortStork looks like the best bet right now. There is a "National Reptile Breeders Expo" this weekend in Daytona, I will probably go check it out.

If your interested in hatching the tortoise yourself ask Tortstork about an insta Hatch, that's what I did.

@Toddrickfl1, amazing concept. I'm definitely looking into this. How did the insta-hatch work out for you?

It was really cool. The egg hatched 4 days after I received it. Randy (Tortstork) helped me with whatever I questions I had thru out the process. Even sent picture updates of how the egg was developing few times before I got it.

@Toddrickfl1, that is truly amazing. Loved your post and your photos! Unfortunately, he's all sold out of cherry heads for insta-hatch. I'm on the waitlist, but I'm impatient!

Cool, Gluck. It shouldn't be a long wait. I see him advertise them all the time.

Check with Bill at redfoot ranch, him and his wife are awesome. If you go pick your tort up they will give probably give you a tour of their grounds. Bill really knows his stuff and was always willing to help us.

If you’ve never been, the expo is a lot of fun. There are 1000’s of reptiles to see and purchase. There should be plenty of redfoots there to purchase. I would try and read up here on the forum about the proper way to raise hatchlings, so that you can speak with the breeders and decide who is selling the best tortoises. You want to make sure to assess the tortoise before purchasing, some will be better than others, so you’ll want to make an informed decision on which one to get.

@wccmog10 Thank you, and yes, I'm excited to go, it looks like a lot of fun. I expect it will also be the best opportunity for me to observe and hopefully buy a beautiful baby tortoise. I hope there will be some Cherry Heads for me to choose from.

Thanks, @jacksknight. I believe I will meet Bill from Redfoot Ranch at the National Reptile Breeders Expo this weekend.
